Are you completely new to social media? Don’t know where to start? Here are some quick video rundowns of many popular social media services and networks available today. This series is hosted by Edward from England.


Facebook is an online social networking service, launched on February 4, 2004. Facebook had over 1.18 billion monthly active users as of August 2015.


Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets”. It was founded in 2006.


LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking service. Founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking.


Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that launched in 2010. It enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms.


Pinterest is a web and mobile application. Users can upload, save, sort, and manage images—known as pins—and other media content through collections known as pinboards. Pinterest acts as a personalized media platform.


Periscope is a live video streaming app for iOS and Android. It is owned by Twitter and launched in March 2015. On Aug 12, 2015 it was announced that Periscope had surpassed 10 million accounts, just 4 months after it was launched.
